Needless to say, these were sold out within weeks of the launch.

‘Amsterdam-based strategic creative agency Fitzroy created a special surprise for all mojito fans in Holland. In collaboration with Bacardi brand they launched a unique promotional pack — Bacardi Mojito kit containing all necessary components for mixing excellent Mojito cocktails at home’

All of this reminds me of the Drambuie Nail Bar that I saw when I was at Bestival in 2010, which was part of their Nail or Fail campaign.

‘The Drambuie “Nail or Fail” cocktail competition will showcase some of the best of Denver’s undiscovered bartenders, as they put their skills to the test to create their best Drambuie cocktails. The creations will be judged on presentation, flavor, taste, and creativity, by a panel of judges as well as guests who attend the event. The winner will then move on to compete against the top bartenders selected from nine markets across the country, in order to earn the overall “best cocktail” title.

The event will also feature a series of bar games and entertainment for guests, as well as complimentary cocktails to sample throughout the evening. The exciting and innovative cocktail recipes are sure to offer a modern interpretation of this timeless liqueur and classic cocktail staple.‘

This seems like a good way to introduce people to the ‘fun’ side of Drambuie, very few people can refuse freebies, a night out and a bit of competition.

So, first year is finished, passed, completed – now on to second year, second term.

Lucky girl. These are two books I’ve wanted for ages. Both are concerned with the more hand crafted elements and methods of graphic design. Having just come from a foundation diploma at Central St Martins and having a history in both fine art and product design, I am more interested in the practical side of things for the moment.

Originally having been assigned the letters S and T for the hand drawn letterform exercise and not really getting anywhere, i completely abandoned these and decided to settle for the first letter of the alphabet. These are a little more successful.

I’ve chosen to review Grafik magazine as, time and time again, I’m drawn to it. Not just as a magazine, but as an object it’s very aesthetically pleasing. It’s clear to see that each individual page has been carefully considered and planned, rather than just assembled to incorporate information, thus keeping your attention throughout the entire issue.  I’ve decided to look in particular at the online edition of the magazine as this is something that not many publications offer. Though I’d be more than happy to purchase a copy of Grafik each month, at £9 an issue (and as a student) my bank account is less than willing to indulge me.

During the character profile project, I’ve learnt a lot about Berlusconi, but very little about Photoshop… I’m petrified of having to display my ‘outcome’ full stop, let alone have it critiqued. Fun fun fun.
